2012 Stockholm Junior Water Prize Award Winners

 

The following high school winners are also eligible to compete to be the Vermont representative to the National runoff for the Stockholm Junior Water Prize.**

 

         Two First Prizes to the top project involving water pollution control, water quality, or drinking water, High School, - $200 each person and

          $10,000 per year Next Generation Scholarship to Green Mountain Colleg

          Basundhara Mukherjee,     South Burlington High School 

 

17 May, 2012, the Water Environment Federation Announced that Basundhara Mukherjee,is this year's Vermont winner of the Stockholm Junior Water Prize for her project, "The Effect of Different Flow Rates in a Sand Filter to Purify Water." Basndhara's High School Science Teacher is Curtis Belton. This prize Sponsored by the New England Water Environment Association, will take Basundhara to

          plus $10,000 per year Next Generation Scholarship to Green Mountain College*

          Jennifer Needle   Northfield High School

          Cody Yu   South Burlington High School

 

     Second Prize to a project involving water pollution control, water quality, or drinking water, High School, - $100

          plus $10,000 per year Next Generation Scholarship to Green Mountain College* 

          Marie Schwalbe   Rutland High School   

          

     First Prize to the top project involving water pollution control, water quality, or drinking water, High School, - $200   

          plus $10,000 per year Next Generation Scholarship to Green Mountain College*

          Riya Patel    South Burlington High School 

 

 Riya Patel won the Vermont Slot to the National Runoff.  At the National Runoff, she did not place among the top winners of the 50 entrants but "had a great time" and learned a lot.
