VSSMF rules for Genius Olympiad Eligibility for 2013
In 2013, because the VSSMF is so late, the procedure for selecting the two finalists to go to Genius Olympiad will be different from the usual method of determining the winners on Fair Day.
This year, all eligible projects (grades 8-12 - please note that 8th graders are eligible this year), will be considered based on their abstracts only. Eligible projects must deal with some aspect of environmental issues, more specifically, a) ecology or biodiversity, b) environmental quality [air, water, soil], c) resources and energy, or d) human ecology. Since abstracts are due by March 15th (see Deadlines), the VSSMF panel of Genius Olympiad judges will examine all abstracts and determine the two finalists and notify them by March 25th. By April 1st, each finalist must to go to the Genius Olympiad application site to register for participation.
