I-SWEEEP Eligibility Requirements & Proceedures
International Sustainable World (Energy, Engineering & Environment) Project Olympiad
Although this comes to us as a result of our affiliation with ISEF, it is not tied to ISEF.
All grade 9-12 students who submit their abstracts by the March 15th deadline will be considered.
2010 is the third year of I-SWEEEP at the VSSMF. The Board of Directors of the VSSMF will nominate three representatives from the junior section (middle school) and four from the senior section (high school) on the basis of abstracts alone. From these nominees, I-SWEEP will select up to three representatives who will be invited to compete in I-SWEEEP 2010 in Houston, Texas, on April 17th. We will notify these representatives by March 25th. At that time, we will give the representatives instructions on how to register online and finalize their travel plans. The representatives will have until April 1st to do so. Although the representatives will be in Houston at the time of the VSSMF, they will be announced at the 2010 VSSMF Awards ceremony.
I-SWEEEP Scholarship Awards
Each representative and his/her adult sponsor is invited to attend the International Sustainable World (Energy, Engineering, & Environment) Project Olympiad in Houston, Texas on April 17-21, 2009.
VSSMF will provide a stipend of $300 to each representative and his/her teacher, up to a total of $1200 for all Vermont's I-SWEEEP representatives, to defray travel costs to Houston. I-SWEEEP will provide all meals, lodging, and domestic transportation within Houston including transportation from and to the airport for these projects during the I-SWEEEP Fair. I-SWEEEP contestants and their adult supervisors are responsible for their own travel arrangments to and from the Houston area. In addition to the representative's stipend, I-SWEEEP has allocated a budget to extend financial aid to help meet the travel expenses of eligible students.
