ISWEEEP

Page history last edited by pinkhamc@... 5 mos ago
Although this comes to us as a result of our affiliation with ISEF, it is not tied to ISEF.  Thus all grade 9-12 students will be eligible for these prizes.

2009 is the second year of I-SWEEEP.  It will be done somewhat differently from last year:  The Board of Directors of the VSSMF will nominate two winners from the junior section (middle school) and four from the senior section (high school) on the basis of abstracts alone.  These nominees will be informed of their selection by March 12th.  They will be given  instructions on how to finalize their nomination.  From these nominees, I-SWEEP will select up to three winners who will be invited to compete in I-SWEEEP 2009 in Houston, Texas, in April.  The winners will be announced at the VSSMF Awards ceremony.

Last year, one of our winners, Ian Patch received the Honorable Mention award in Senior Environment category at I-SWEEEP with the project The CO2 Emission Levels Using Shaded Pole Motors Vs. Using Ecd Motors In Refrigerators.”

ISWEEEP Scholarship Awards

Each Scholarship winner and his/her adult sponsor is invited to attend the International Sustainable World (Energy, Engineering, & Environment) Project Olympiad

in Houston, Texas on April 15-20, 2009.

I-SWEEEP will provide all meals, lodging, and domestic transportation within Houston including transportation from and to the airport  for these projects during the I-SWEEEP Fair.  I-SWEEEP contestants and their adult supervisors are responsible for their own travel arrangments to and from the Houston area. For this reason, I-SWEEEP has allocated a budget to extend financial aid to help meet the travel expenses of eligible students.
